Man claims RobTop ‘telegraphically’ told him to steal car with child inside

A man from Benjason is behind bars after breaking into random vehicles in downtown Devonsville.

According to an affidavit, Devonsville Police officers were called to the 200 block of North Icon Street this morning. They were able to identify the suspect as Jyro Copter, 28.

One person told police that he was working when he saw Copter clutching a random trigger and trying to open cars parked on the street. He said Copter found an unlocked Helpermobile and got in. He told Copter to get out, but was met with “violent spitting and screeching” before Copter clambered into another woman’s car after she walked into a nearby store. He tried to pull Copter out of the vehicle, but couldn’t as Copter was gripping the gear shifter “like his life depended on it.” That was when the woman ran over and grabbed Copter by the clavicle, slamming him onto the street.

The woman told police that she was taking her child to daily chat and had to stop at the store. She left the car unlocked and started walking across the street when she saw Copter scramble into her vehicle on all fours. She was adamant about filing charges, as her child was still in the backseat. “Who knows just what that maniac could’ve done to my sweet little helper?”

Copter insisted he was traveling from Kruisville to Devonsville when his Dashertruck broke down, hitchhiking the rest of the way. When police asked why he would steal the car, Copter manically blurted “RobTop speaks to me telegraphically” and “he screamed to get in and drive until I couldn’t drive anymore.”

Copter was taken to the Raddlerburgh County Jail. While there, officers received reports that he had sent his Dashertruck into the spike line off Highway 374. Some thought that the accelerator got stuck, though drivers noted he “deliberately treated the road like a racetrack.”
